Founder’s Farwell, M T’s newest CD is available now. The disc highlights three aspects of M T’s performance — the supper club/cocktail piano stylings, the vocals, and the big band sound. “I wanted a CD that captured, in miniature, a typical evening in Villari’s Founder’s Room,” said M T. “I think the selections and mix of styles accomplish that goal.”
A Saturday night fixture in the formal Founder’s Room for the past 9 years, M T continues as the bistro’s house musician, but his location and schedule vary. Villari’s Founder’s Room and Banquet facilities were recently renovated by the Food Network; the process was documented and aired as the pilot of for the series, Restaurant Impossible.
The publicity led to an increase in private parties held at the venue, and created a need for more space and flexibility. In June, third generation owner, Paul Villari III, made the decision to make the Founder’s room part of the banquet facilites.
Since then, M T has been periodically performing and DJ-ing in the informal SanPaulo room, on Saturdays, or hosting “M T’s Rockin’ Piano Bar” in the pub on Fridays. Of course, holidays, private parties, and special occasions continue to bring him back to the Founder’s Room. “We bring in MT whenever we can,” said Villari. “The customers, staff and I love it when he’s here. He’s family.”
Positioned as a demo CD, Founder’s Farwell is available now.
